About Me 私について

多様性を受け入れる社会をめざして。

父の仕事の関係で1歳から小５まで韓国で育ちました。中学の交換留学制度でアメリカへ、その後、東大在学中にフランス語学留学やフィリピンでのフィールドワークを経験。現在のキャリアに最も影響したのがスウェーデンの長期留学です。スウェーデンは日本よりも小さな国ですが、人種、宗教などダイバーシティに富む社会ができあがっていて、どこでも英語が通じます。人口の半分ぐらいがアジアや中東からの移民で、シリアやトルコなどの難民受け入れにも積極的です。ジェンダー学や社会福祉も進んでいて学びの多い国でした。この環境で過ごす中で、「社会の多様性が進めば、人はもっと自分らしく自由に生きられる」と感じたのです。帰国後はグローバル人材採用を支援する日本企業に就職。地方の高校生の海外進学を支援するNPOにも参加しました。そこで改めて教育の大切さを実感。教育は子ども達に多くの選択肢を教え、可能性を広げてくれます。その経験が回り回って社会を豊かにしてくれる、そんな循環が理想です。

WGHにジョインしたのは2022年。子ども達はもちろん外国人の講師をサポートする機会も増えて、毎日充実しています。一年半の産休・育休を経て時間に余裕ができてからは事業運営にも関わりたいと、ダブルキャリアの道を選びました。仕事を通じて細部に目が行き届く自分を発見。業務を改善する余地を少しでも見つけて、WGHをよりよいものにしたいと思います。

WGHの魅力のひとつはスタッフの人柄です。仕事を通して文化の違いを発見することもこの仕事の面白さ。ぜひ一緒に楽しみましょう。

Aiming for a society that embraces diversity.

Due to my father’s work, I grew up in Korea from age 1 to grade 5. He went to the U.S. on a junior high school exchange program, followed by French studies abroad and fieldwork in the Philippines while a student at the University of Tokyo. The most influential experience in my current career was a long-term study abroad program in Sweden. Although Sweden is a smaller country than Japan, it has a society rich in diversity in terms of race and religion, and English is spoken everywhere. About half of the population is made up of immigrants from Asia and the Middle East, and Sweden is active in accepting refugees from Syria, Turkey, and other countries. Gender studies and social welfare are also advanced, and I learned a lot in this country. While spending time in this environment, I felt that “if social diversity is promoted, people can live more freely in their own way. After returning to Japan, I worked for a Japanese company that supports the recruitment of global human resources. I also joined an NPO that supports local high school students to go abroad for higher education. There, I once again realized the importance of education. Education gives children many options and expands their possibilities. Ideally, this experience will go around and enrich society.

I joined WGH in 2022. I have more opportunities to support not only children but also foreign teachers, and I am fulfilled every day. After a year and a half of maternity and childcare leave and having more time to spare, I chose the path of a double career, wanting to be involved in business operations as well. Through my work, I found myself with an eye for detail. I would like to find as much room for improvement in our operations and make WGH even better.

One of the most attractive aspects of WGH is the personalities of the staff. Discovering cultural differences through work is also an interesting part of the job. Let’s have fun together!
